Partnerships

In order to make our school an active school we've had to collaborate with others in the community.

Firstly, we set up an active school's committee so that we could every child in our school a voice. We have also worked closely with outside agencies. Have a look below:

Active Committee

Our Active School Committee were voted in by their classmates. We have monthly meetings to evaluate how the Active Flag Process is going.

Their responsibilities include; sorting PE and playground equipment, acting as playground leaders, carrying out surveys, designing display boards among many other tasks.

Aodh Ruadh and the GAA

We have a great relationship with Aodh Ruadh GAA. Many of our pupils are club members and each year we are lucky enough to have some football coaches come in to work with each class. Coaches include former county stars Brian Roper, Sylvester Maguire and Donegal Masters Coach Val Murray.

GAA Ulster Council

Through our connection with Aodh Ruadh we were lucky enough to have coaches from the Ulster Council come to our school for an 8 week period to coach hurling to some of our younger pupils.

Ballyshannon Basketball Club

For the past number of years we have had Spanish basketball coaches come into our school for coaching sessions through the town's Basketball club.

Ballyshannon Athletic Club

We have built up a strong relationship with Ballyshannon Athletic Club. This year the school has made a big push to have as many of our pupils become members as possible. We have since seen great improvements in our running initiatives and challenges.

Donegal Sport Partnership

This year we teamed up with the Donegal Sports Partnership for a training day for the Sports Hall Athletics.

In future we hope to trial the Ag Sugradh Le Cheile initiative in our school

Irish Primary PE Association

We are members of the IPPEA which has given us great ideas on how to make PE more fun and inclusive!
